mags!

Things are about to get really nerdy really fast.....

girl nerdy.

I have a thing for magazines....

I'm a sucker for all the pretty photos, what can I say? There's something nice about turning the glossy pages and being able to carry it around with you and flip through whenever you have time. I still love scouring the internet for photos, but nothing will top an awesome magazine in my heart.

I want to talk about some of my favs...

Zink

Zink is gorgeous, it's a quarterly magazine with both an American and Canadian version. The Canadian Zink is based out of Montreal and has a very distinct vibe. There's a little bit of everything, fashion, people, travel, design, books, music, film and art. And, most importantly (to me) the photo spreads are always fantastic and are the bulk of the magazine. It's also a reasonable price, $5.99

Elegant Wedding

This one is pretty new to me and not really one of my favorites but I was pretty impressed with it. I picked up a complimentary copy and a wedding show last month and was pleased to find out that it was mostly photography, unlike many of the other wedding magazines I've come across. This magazine exudes dreamy, romantic, luxury wedding that would make you feel like a princess. Though I've never been much of a wedding person, I'm totally down with the princess thing. It's hard to stop flipping through all the pages of pastel colours that look like cake. So, this is a great inspirational magazine if you're into wedding photography, it's a quarterly that has a Toronto edition and a Montreal edition. It's a bit pricier at $11, but it's a great quality magazine and worth it.

Elle Canada

I like Elle Canada because it has all the quintessential beauty magazine features and articles, it's very Canadian and it's a great price $2.99 - $3.99.

PhotoNews

Ah PhotoNews, the price doesn't get any better, a free subscription. It comes to my door 4 times a year, photo tips, gear reviews and reader galleries. For freeeeee!

H&M

Do I even need to say anything here? First of all H&M is my jam, so I'm gonna be biased. BUT, this magazine is not only free, it's good. Another quarterly, It's not a beauty magazine, it's a fashion magazine, so there's lots of chat about fashion and inspiration. Also, photos!

Noise

Noise is my favorite. It's an Australian magazine that comes out twice a year and is a bitch to find. I could subscribe but for some reason it costs more to subscribe, so I don't. It's somewhat pricey at $15 an issue, but it's worth it. It's just all photos all the time, they don't waste any precious space on those pesky articles and I love them for it.

There's a few other magazine's of note.... I used to be super down with Nylon, but it just made me want to buy stuff all the time. Which I realize is the point, but I don't have any money and the money I do have is allocated for artsy stuff, and the photos weren't that great, so that one had to go.

Practical Photography and Photolife are also pretty good, I just don't pick them up that much....

Vogue of course has tons of great photo spreads, but again with the making me want to buy stuff, so I only pick it up every once in a while.

There are tons of delightful looking magazines out there, I can and do spend way too much time flipping through them whenever I'm in a bookstore, I'm sure there's a bunch more out there that I'd like (and if you know of any lemmie know). But these are the ones that I always come back to and wanted to nerd out about today....

Nerdfest over. For now.
