Give me a reason to love you

Yellow Dragonfruit

Yellow Dragonfruit

had yellow dragon fruit for the first time ever today, tasty!! Better than boring ol' regular dragon fruit I'd say...

Working on updating the website, a bit of a pain in the ass, but rewarding and worth it and all that. Big THANKS to Aimee for giving me a hand, huzzah! Also doing some work to the Blog, bear with me.

as long as I remember whose wearing the trousers...

why, are those Depeche Mode sunglasses?? why yes, yes they are!

I rocked these Depeche Mode sunglasses today, they're not mine, but I enjoy stealing them from Mr. Blogdan on occasion....

UBER boring day. Edited some HTML. sat around. looked at stuff. Talked to my parents (which wasn't boring) went to the gym & practiced my guitar. BORING.

meh.

My mind is fully on the upcoming show and my trip back home... nothing to report.

BORING.

That and no sleep doesn't quite make for a happy Lisa.

But I have a vacation coming up soon, so hopefully that will perk my spirits.

I would love to do a painting sometime soon... but I don't have a canvas kicking around so I must wait until pay day.

Back to music for now....

Every time I go to Seaky Dees we order "the Kings Crown, Vegetarian, no meat with the guac baked inside." And every time, We either have the waiter argue with us that baking guacamole inside nachos is completely impossible and that there's no way on planet earth that this could ever possibly happen. OR we get meat on our 'vegetarian, no meat' nachos. We got meat last night. *sigh* MY POOR MORALS! constantly being laughed at by the staff at Sneaky Dees.... Yet I keep going! stupid delicious nachos....
fear not, they always give us a new no meat version once we notice the offending substance.

Dear Die Hard; YOU ROCK

I saw the new Indiana Jones Movie last night, I enjoyed it... it was pretty much what I was expecting. Thank you SeƱor Spielbergo for another box office smash!... ( I will however never EVER forgive you for A.I... just saying).

When I came home Aimoo was watching Jurassic Park! So of course I sat down with her and watched the rest of the movie (until the wee hours). Jurassic Park and I have a long and sorted history, I saw it 8 times in the theater and lost track of how many times I'd seen it around 60 viewings (and that was in 1996).

I'm super wicked cool, I know...

Due to this long and sorted history, I was very surprised to learn that Stan Winston passed away recently. Mr. Winston was a special effects guru. He worked on the Jurassic Park series, the Terminator series, the Predator series, Aliens, Edward Scissorhands and much more.

For a far more informative and far better written tribute to Stan, please check out this L.A. Times article....

Good Times at NXNE this year. I didn't attend any conferences or play, it was all strictly audience based this year, which I haven't done for a couple years...

more beer

I have my last photography class this week, and then it's back into battle mode. I'm feeling the urge again, the urge to book shows and all that fun stuff. I just booked a show In Winnipeg on July 18th and am starting to look around for more. I've got some other ideas and songs a brewin' too... wish me luck!

I was born a rebel...

I saw a lot of this last night...
beertastic

I went to the Silver Dollar, saw Bird Week, Action Makes and the Mark Inside. I tried to get into the Bovine to catch Malcolm Bauld's show, but that was a no go.. I waited in the rain for a while until I gave up & sought refuge where there was free beer & good company...which of course resulted in me not attending any more shows that night.

Slept in & woke up to a lovely headache, was incapable of doing anything until about 4:30pm so I just lazed around on the couch and watched Jurassic Park. I have a thing for dinosaurs btw...

chalk and charcoal drawing I did a while back...

time to get ready for more shows!...

the earth was shakin

There's nothing like playing your guitar at 1:27 in the morning. I don't know why I have such a thing for playing my guitar late into the night alone in my room, but I do...

Went out for NXNE tonight. I only went to one venue, Clinton's, for the SunnyLane Records showcase. I went to see Andrew Devillers and stayed for Donovan Woods & Jason Kent (and the beer).

It'll all work out

sometimes scratchy voices = sexy and sultry. sometimes they equal scratchy off key warbling. It's a fact. lesson learned? stay away from wine while sick & trying to sing....

made this tonight, not sure if it's what we're gonna go with but I like it.

I'm thinkin blah n' blah blah blah

Didn't get much of what I wanted to get done this weekend done.

blah.

and I'm getting sick, which is never good.

1

found this book for a reasonable price though....

I've been trying to get everything organized and back on track.. if it ever was... and I feel like I'm running in circles, only to run into a wall at the end of it. BLAH.

I did this painting a while ago

2

the photo doesn't really do it justice.. just imagine it more pastel-y.

That new song I've been working on is turning out nice though! It makes me happy anyway, still a bit too long though... it should be done and shorter for my show at the end of the month.

TomPettyticket

now THAT was a rock concert.

Yup, that show ranked right up there with Depeche Mode on my personal awesome meter (Good enough for me to forgive him for the Postman). Good band, good songs, good musicians, good sound (except for the sometimes too loud piano) good lighting, good stage design and mostly good/receptive audience. Good audience with the exception of the guy who was sitting beside me, he offered me a dollar to sit down so he could see. OK first off, a dollar?? fuck come on, you want me to sit down at a concert it better be worth my while and second, even if I did sit down, you wouldn't have been able to have seen anything due to the other people that were standing up. Douche.

oh, and no one. and I mean no one can rock a gold silk long sleeve top, blue jeans cowboy boots and a velvety vest like Tom Petty.

I'm not a long time well versed fan, so I can't give you an in depth review but I can tell you that I had a good time...

'MAD props' to MaryEllen for hooking me up with the ticket at a 'my friend bailed and I need to sell this ticket' blow out price. You are my hero.

no photos this time, I was lazy....
